My Short Biography

I grew up in a large family on a small farm near Hershey, Pennsylvania. I have always had the travel bug, thanks to my parents who took all eight of us car camping to every state but Hawaii and to nearly every U.S. and Canadian national park by the time I was 16. I have always loved nature and the outdoors, especially the mountains, and have enjoyed hiking, backpacking, bicycle touring, canoeing and skiing.

I have lived in states from Maine to Oregon and have enjoyed a variety of occupations, including preschool teacher, camp counselor, trail maintenance crew leader, musician and artist. I have worked in the healthcare field as a personal care provider, nursing assistant and nurse.

I received my associates degree in nursing from Rogue Community College in Grants Pass, OR in 1996. While working as a registered nurse and seeing the value of caring touch, I became an Oregon licensed massage therapist in 1999.

I moved to Geneva, Illinois in 2008 and became an Illinois licensed massage therapist in 2009 upon graduating from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois.

In 2014 I became a certified yoga teacher through the Himalayan Yoga and Meditation Center in Palatine, Illinois.

I received my Natural Vision Coach training from Greg Marsh in Fort Collins, Colorado. and have been a Certified Natural Vision Coach since 2016,

I currently live in Jupiter, Florida with my wife and colleague Pati Starzynski. I’m enjoying being by the ocean and intend to do some diving and learn to surf in the near future.

As a Natural Vision Coach, yoga teacher, massage therapist and former nurse, I take a holistic and integrative approach to Natural Vision Improvement.

Fundamentally, clear vision is natural, but does require relaxation of the body, the mind and the eyes. This is easier said than done, as it involves breaking ingrained and unconscious habits of strain. It has helped me along my own vision improvement journey to learn different relaxation and mindfulness techniques aimed at handling stress better. So, in my coaching practice, along with the Bates Method of Natural Vision Improvement, I incorporate other natural and holistic relaxation and mindfulness practices to help you better handle the life stresses that can contribute to eyestrain and  lowered vision.

To assist you in the letting go of habitual strain and physical and emotional blocks that interfere with naturally clear vision, I can include various complimentary and holistic practices and techniques, including gentle yoga and stretching, meditation and mindfulness, pranayama and breath awareness, autogenic training and other relaxation techniques such as guided imagery, memory practice and Emotional Freedom Technique.

My goal is to help you experience for yourself what it feels like to use your eyes, your mind and your body the way nature intended, with natural ease and comfort.
